At Tierney Orthotics and Prosthetics, we are passionate about prosthetics because they help our patients get their lives back. Recently, we outfitted two of our patients with new below-the-knee prosthetics, and we wanted to give you a quick glimpse into their stories and the process of helping them find the right prosthetic device.

To protect their privacy, we will refer to our first patient as A.S. (his initials). A.S. underwent a below-the-knee amputation last year and received his first prosthetic at that time. We recently helped select and fit him with his final prosthetic and now, he can walk with no assistance!

We also added a custom design to his prosthetic – it now features a knight, sword, and shield, and these images represent the armor of God, word of God, and other religious symbols of strength. We like doing custom design work on prosthetics because it helps our patients get involved with the process and better accept their prosthetic as part of who they are. We do not charge anything extra for this work.

Our second patient who recently received a below-the-knee prosthetic from us (we will refer to him by his initials, R.S.) was not happy with his original prosthetic, which was not done by our office. He searched for a new prosthetics provider online and found our website. After reading through all our positive reviews, he decided to give us a call.

Like A.S., R.S. is a below-the-knee amputee and can now walk without assistance with his new prosthetic. His prosthetic’s custom design features include the Steelers’ logo and a cosmetic cover.

We are so happy we were able to help A.S. and R.S. find below-the-knee prosthetics that work for them and provide complete mobility. If you are an amputee yourself, we guarantee superior service and complete attention to detail while helping you find the right prosthetic for your needs and lifestyle. Give us a call today!
