Losing a limb can be a traumatic, lifechanging event. The good news is that technological advancements in the area of prosthetics now allow custom manufacturing to improve your outcomes and better fit your prosthetics to your needs and lifestyle. No two people are the same, and custom manufacturing ensures that you get the best possible outcome. We will collaborate with you, your medical doctor and your physical therapist all along the way.
Here are the steps you can expect during our custom manufacturing process:
- Consultation: The first step is the consultation. This is our chance to discuss your needs and goals for your prosthetic. We will discuss your employment and interests, your activity level and your lifestyle.
- Casting: Next, we are ready to cast. This process involved taking a mold of your residual limb. We will modify this mold to create a socket that will enable us to attach prosthetic components to including a knee and/or prosthetic foot. We will discuss options in these components and select the optimal component(s) depending on your activity level, goals, and lifestyle.
- Fitting: We want to make sure the fitting is just right, for maximum comfort and function.
- Follow-up: You will need to work with a physical therapist to ensure that you learn how to use your new prosthetic effectively.
Our custom manufacturing of your prosthetic ensures that the final product meets your needs and helps you reach your goals.
